Restoration

• We restore furniture from early 16th century to the more modern. Our particular expertise is in the restoration of early oak furniture for which we have an enviable reputation for the quality of our work.

• We are particularly proud of our abilities to preserve original surface wherever possible. We are able to match in newly restored sections either by using old patinated timber or by copying old surfaces. We have a good selection of old timber breakers and use both traditional and modern techniques to achieve a high quality finish.

Please look at the pictures below for a small selection of pieces restored over the years.

Before and after. Later cabriole legs removed and copies of original turned leg made and polished to match
An Elizabethan Oak and Fruitwood High chair from the Clive Sherwood Collection. A new back rail fitted and patinated to match the original.
Before and after. A rare triangular Gothic Stool having had a huge section badly repaired in the past. The repair was removed, as much of the original was preserved and a patinated section was inserted into the hole.
An early cedarwood chest of drawers with replaced mouldings and split turnings.
A George Bullock chair with brass mounts. All mounts were removed, joints repaired and the inlay re-laid. The chair was reupholstered with John Boyd Horsehair fabric.
